Steph, born in Rochford, Essex started riding at five years old on Huckleberry Finn, a Shetland pony. Other notable horses and ponies in Steph’s life include Arkle, who saw Steph progress through Pony Club until she outgrew him. She then moved onto Bee who she competed with at Gosling Cup and Area events. And finally Temple Lad, who has been the gentle giant on Steph’s yard since he was 6 months old, and is now at the grand age of 23 years old.
Steph’s life in Pony Club was extensive, training the Prince Phillip cup teams for five years and becoming District Commissioner of the Essex Union Hunt South Pony Club for four years. This gave Steph the incentive to later train to become a qualified instructor, Equine Therapist and also a partner in Clarendon Equine Veterinary Surgery.
Steph now trains dressage with John Bowen, and this partnership has taken Bobby from Prelim to Grand Prix, notably coming runner up in the Pet Plan Winter National Championships Prix St George in 2007.
As an Equine Therapist, Steph treats all levels of horses and travels as much as she can with her top 4* event riders and 2012 Gold medal-winning show jump rider to ensure they are ready for the physical challenges of competition. Accompanying Steph on her travels is usually “Pudding” the Pug, and the black Labs Fern and Thistle and Bracken.
Steph strongly believes in keeping horses in peak physical fitness, all made possible with the help of Noroquin and Glutalyte, and actively recommends them to her clients.
